:: New Knits ::

On Saturday night Kgordee and I were out on a date for his birthday, we stopped off at Borders to pick up the new Joseph Arthur album "Let's Just Be" and I picked up my first Knitting magazine. I never realized how fun knitting magazines could be.

I picked Interweave Knits because of this cute picture I found on my favorite crafty site Posie gets Cozy, I love the lacey little hand warmers from the winter 2006 issue.

I have been wanting a hat, as all the hats I have ever made I have given away. I got this yarn in SLC at a little yarn shop on our 6th wedding anniversary last year.

I know that you are suppose to have something in mind when you buy yarn so you can get the right amount, choose the yarn according to gauge, color, fiber and what have you, but I rarely buy yarn that way. Mostly I just needed this yarn because of the color and the fun wooly texture.

So here is a test swatch, whenever I make one of these I feel so responsible. I hate making them though, they just get in the way of the project. I say this even though I know without them I will end up with a thneed.

So this hat is a combination of one that I saw a picture of forever ago and my own design. I'm not sure it will turn out exactly like I have envisioned it, however I am ever so hopeful. I will let you know.

:: Nasty weather ::

Guess we aren't going to SLC today. We are going to wait it out at
Cabelas before braving the freeway again.

Two things I love: getting packages in the mail (who doesn't love that) and stripy socks! Oh how I love stripy socks. My new favorite website is Sock Dreams, all the socks you never knew you always wanted and more. Plus free shipping, how fun is that? Needless to say I am very happy today.

:: Bread and Mischief ::

We made rolls today to take to a friend, and of course the Twins helped. Mostly they played hide and seek with the dough and the mixing bowl.
I love this Challah Bread recipe because the dough is so silky to work with and the bread/rolls get an egg wash before they go into the oven making them look nice and shiny. Josh kissed an ink pad, bless his little heart.

:: Two Birds, One Stone ::

So I have been wanting to try my hand at granny squares, and na na, here they are. I know, they are a wee bit wonky but they were really fun to make and I love the colors. I made these three little bad boys into an earring cozy of sorts. Seeing as I don't have more then five pairs of earrings but I still don't want them just laying around higeldy pigeldy,this little creation will be perfect for me.

Jazz vs Pacers

Last week I had the rare opportunity to go to a Jazz Game as an "honorary coach". All this really means is that I had a great seat down right behind the players. I posted a couple of pics straight from the game as seen in some earlier postings, but I didn't really get a chance to add much detail. StoresOnline, where I work, is a sponsor of the Jazz and they have a few promotional deals. So the day before the game, my boss asked me if I wanted tickets. I was like, sure! Then he mentioned that...by the way, you are going to be the honorary coach. I had no idea what he was talking about but it sounded cool. So I basically had a pair of tickets on the 21st row for 2 guests, and then I would be sitting down with the players. Camille and Erin took the 21st row, they also had a Sports Club pass which got them into a fancy pre-game buffet. I missed out on that part but it was worth it to be able to have such a great seat. See the slideshow below or view the Picasa gallery here. The Jazz were ahead by 20 to 30 points the whole game so it wasn't as tense as it probably usually is. But it was still great fun to feel like a part of the action. Andre Kirilenko did not play but he sat right next to me so that was pretty cool.

Christmas Movies

I guess I didn't teach Josh & Jane the rule about Christmas movies. The one that says you can only watch Christmas movies between Thsnksgiving and Christmas. Jane is holding up one of her favorites, "Father Christmas". I hope that by next Christmas I'm not burned out on any of the classics.

:: Feet Feet Feet ::

At this point my sock looks more like a ski mask for my foot then a sock. I just gotta stitch up the toe, oh and finish the other one.

You can kind of see the progress of sock number two, slowly but barely.

:: Craftiness Update ::

I have been working on this bad boy since the beginning-ish of last year and I still only have about 30 inches done. However this is going to be a masive afghan, it takes me about one Office episode to get across all 72 inches of the thing. I put it aside for a while in favor of other projects but lately the cold weather has guided me back to it. I can sit under it and be super cozy while I work on it. I say it because it doesn't have a name yet, I will keep you updated.

:: Happy New Year ::

Kgordee and I went on a date today; first we sat on the comfy couches at Kneaders and ate some yummy sandwiches. Veggie Avocado, of course. I will have to go back when I have more time. It was a perfect place to just sit and knit.

Then we saw Juno for the second time in a week. That is saying a lot, when I think how often we have a sitter for the twins. Both of us love the movie; I have decided that it is a cross between Napoleon Dynamite and Saved.

Oh and Happy New Year!
