New Book Club

I am so excited for tonight. I am going to the first meeting of a new book club put together by a friend of a friend. I know that I already belong/run the ward book club but lets be honest I have no idea what I am doing. I can't wait to see how they have everything set up and what books people want to read.

I love our ward book club and I am grateful for all of the women who come and put up with my shenanigans every month. But I'm less than a fearless leader and I would like to learn how to moderate a group discussion for the benefit of our ward book club. So pretty much I am spying on my new club. What, how else am I going to learn this stuff.

I am also really excited to get to read and discus books that I really can't recommend for our ward book club. It's hard to finish a book that I think would be perfect for a book club discussion and then realize that it might offend members of our group.

We read the Interpreter of Maladies by Jhump Lahiri for our discussion tonight. It is a collection of nine short stories about people of Indian heritage set in the US or in India. I would love to hear from anyone who has read it or read any of Jhump Lahiri's work.
