:: So Sad ::

I already know that I can't sing, I have never been under any dislutions that I can sing. I think there is only one exception, In forth grade, I was convinced that I could sing just like Princess Arora in Sleeping Bueaty, but I am pretty sure that self descption only last a few days. I have really come to enbrace my inablity to sing, I don't have to worry about being off key because I wouldn't know it if I was on key.
I still love to sing, in the car, to the kids or at home as I work. About a month ago the kids started hasseling me when I sang. "Don't sing mommy, don't sing." Ouch. When did my kids become Simon Cowell? This picture shows one of Josh's possiable sultions to my cruning

Root Canal

If any of you are having a bad day, at least you are not sitting in
the dental chair about to get a root canal like me.

:: Easter Sunday ::

I'm not one for Easter Dresses but I had to buy this little one. I love the red and white checks; I think I love this fabric because even though I don't remember my Mom wearing her green and white checked dress, we have 27 million pictures of her in it. I love that dress, she made it herself and it was nice and comfy to wear while she was pregnant with one of the kids.

Here are the twins at Lorna's house for a little Easter egg hunt. It's amazing how fast Josh picked up on the egg gathering part. Mostly Jane would find an egg, stop everything else and eat the candy. We forgot to bring their Easter buckets (the same ones they play outside with, except with shredded brown paper for grass) and we didn't have time to do our own hunt last night so we are going to do one in our back yard tonight.

:: Green Eggs and Hand ::

(Josh, Jane, Susannah, and Katie holding Rowan and Conner)
Saturday started out with a fun gathering at the Jiles' house for super yummy pancakes and waffles with nutella, peanut butter and whipped cream. We got to visit with Jared and Kristine who were up from Saint George, and met Rowan for the frist time. It was fun to see all of our kids together.

When we got home we dyed easter eggs with the kids which was an adventure, a few of the eggs didn't make it out alive and Josh ended up with a green hand. I guess it is a small price to pay when you consider all the fun they had.

The Hips are in town!

Blogging to you live from the Mother Hips show in SLC. They just
kicked of the first set with a really cool slowed down version of
Kansas City Southern. They will be here tomorrow night too.

:: Scarfy McScarferson ::

Of course since I have everything to do right now, I am working on nonessential projects. I really can't help myself, whenever I am faced with a deadline even if it is a pleasant one (our trip to Germany) I find twenty-seven hundred things I suddenly need to do. So here is the scarf I have been working on while I have been putting off pretty much everything I can.

:: Hard Knock Life ::

I won’t be surprised when I find a "Jane was here" graffito on the underside of the pantry shelf along with four little scratches to represent the four minutes she spent in her cell.

Hulu.com

I have been diggin this new site where you can stream tv shows. www.hulu.com It appears to be a pretty legit site approved by the networks as there are short commercials but it is nice because there are shows from tons of channels both old and new all in one place. What I really thought was cool is that you can not only embed clips into your blog, you can embed specific custom clips where you select the starting point and the ending point, then you grab the chunk of code and paste it into your blog. For example, one of my favorite parts of the Office is when Ryan comes back all corporate like as the new big boss man and Michael talks to the camera about how he thinks Ryan really feels. I included the clip below. The other really cool thing about hulu.com is that it has complete episodes of all 3 seasons of Arrested Development, one of the best shows ever!!!

First Kiss

7 years ago today, I had been dating Camille for a couple of weeks and we decided to take a little road trip down to Springdale, UT to see one of our favorite bands, the Mother Hips. Court and Stefanie joined us in our car and a bunch of other friends went down as well. It was a very memorable trip for many reasons. It was my 50th Mother Hips show. I had the fun opportunity to jam with them during the set. And, while the opening band was playing, Camille and I went for a little walk. I knew that this was the time to lay the first kiss on her. Apparently her roommates had a similar suspicion and had bets placed that involved Camille buying them all ice cream later. Also it was little emily's birthday. (Happy Birthday Emily!) Below are some pics from the trip. The one with Tim and I was taking by Tim and you can see Camille rocking out in camouflage in the background. Good times!!!

:: Lunch Date ::

We went to Grandma Jones' house for a park play date today. I brought pb & j, some apple slices and fruit snacks. Mostly the kids wanted to play and not so much eat. We had a great time.

:: Flying Circus ::

Today the twins and I visited with Tyler, Regan, Adriel, Brooklee and Dallyn in Spanish Fork. The girls are beautiful, though with all the running around and shenanigans I didn't get a picture of Adriel and Josh and Jane together. There will be plenty of time in the future though, because they will be moving here next month for school. We are so excited to have family with small children in the area again.

Adriel and the twins had a great time chasing each other around the babies and there were a lot of opportunities for Josh and Jane to learn about sharing other people’s things with them. Kids, Good times.

:: All My Wildest Dreams Have Come Ture ::

I know some of you might be wondering how a fifty-five gallon drum and two bags of leaves could help my wildest dreams come true. I am equally sure that there will be other(s) who will think to themselves, "Fifty-five gallon drum, bags of leaves, if I could be so lucky".

So here is the deal, I have decided that this is a garden year for the Jones Family. Last year I planted some flowers and a few herbs and they actually grew. I know, right? Regardless of the tomato plants dying a slow and terrible death because they were planted way, way too late last year, we will be ready this year.

So on to all the stuff in the picture, we are going to be composting this year. I was talking to my Dad, (Mr. Green Thumby McThumberson) and decided that another way for our family to be "green" would be to compost our kitchen scraps in to lovely rich fertilizer for our garden. I know that depending on the time I invest in aerating and the mix of "green" waste and "brown" waste (please don't get any idea's folks, "brown" being leaves, wood shavings, ect) that I use it could be a long while until said compost is ready for action.

This doesn't bother me so much since this is really about using kitchen and yard waste in a useful way then the top soil that will be produced. So ever since my Dad and I talked I have had dreams about making my own barrel composter instead of investing a few hundred bucks in a ready made one. I also don’t have any trees that would provide leaves so these bags are from neighbors who have been dutifully raking. My sister bought this drum and others like it for water storage, but they will make perfect barrel composters with a little black paint and some trickery.

Now if only I could get my hands on some pig crap and some more sunny days and we’ll really be cooking.

:: Grandma Gloves ::

These remind me of a little grandma sitting around knitting socks and talking about her hip replacement.

I'm not sure how I feel about them yet, I have always wanted gloves like these, but I don't know. I might be totally kidding myself though; these could just be the equivalent of stirrup pants for your hands.
