Finished Baby Sling

I'm so happy with my new sling. It's not a fancy one but it is functional; I tested it with Jane and she weighs 35 lbs. It was so easy to make and because it went so fast, very satisfying as well. I wanted to get one for the twins but I knew it would be too hard to carry around just one for any length of time and not feel guilty about the other. I know that doesn't really make sense but I'm glad I'll have one this time around.

Below you can see how the sling is worn, though this isn't my picture. It's from an Etsy site that sells them at a very reasonable price. If you want to make your own sling, here are the instructions I followed, though here are a lot of different ways to make slings, with and without rings. If you want rings you can get them here, they are specifically made for baby slings and safe unlike the ones they sell at Joann's.

K, I just linked to a site that you can get a pattern from and a place to buy the rings. Make sure you chose your fabric wisely as it will be supporting the weight of your baby, I used linen. There is a lot of good info on the pattern site about choosing the right fabric and the right ring combo for a safe sling. Just fyi.

So glad you like it.

That looks really nice, MJ. Simple, almost rustic, but uncluttered to the point of elegance.

Very nice. (And I hope you didn't discover the Joann's-rings deficiency through experience!)

If we ever have another, I'm totally commissioning one of these from you (in Manly Man colors/style, of course). :-)

I totally thought that was you in the picture! Thanks for clearing that up!

Good work, Mille. Good work.

Manly Man colors, check, check and of course one for K too, minus the manly.

No we haven't had any accidents due to faulty rings. I did call Joann's and described what I was looking for and they said they had it, next to the glitter and kids crafts, hmmm.

Mostly I just read a warning online about buying rings from craft stores and saw pictures of cheap broken rings. Hey safety first, right.

I love that site, they always have to raddest projects. I forget about it from time to time though, thanks for reminding me.
