North of Portuguese Beach

This is the beach across the street from the house we are staying at just north of Portuguese Beach. On our first morning here we started out with a morning stroll on the beach. The kids picked up everything in sight, examining all of the shells, rocks and drift wood they could get their hands on.
This is by far my favorite kind of beach, over cast skies, rocky cliffs and water much too cold for swimming.
It means year round bonfires and walks on the beach in a cozy sweater and sometimes flip flops. I have a lot of good memories of hopping in the car after a beach trip with wet pant legs and sandy feet trying to get warm sitting snugly between siblings.
I love watching the kids chase the waves, squealing when their feet get wet or laughing when they just barely out run the surf.
